Kataka Football Club from Mbale has qualified to the semi-finals of the 2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Following a nail-biting 3-0 post-match victory in the quarter finals over Police at Kavumba Recreational stadium, Kataka joins the holders Kitara, KCCA and Vipers.
Normal time between Police and Kataka failed to produce any goal per side, including the 30 minutes of extra time.
In the shoot-out, Kataka scored through Muhamad Biafula, Ali Sentamu and Makas Aka.
Police missed all their three penalties struck by the team captain Tonny Kiwalazi, Gaddafi Kacancu and Ben Ocen.
“This is a good performance to qualify for the semi-finals. We are set to play all the way to the final” Kataka head coach Godfrey Toldo stated after the match.
His counterpart Mathias Lule attributed the loss to the failed scoring opportunities in open play.
“We did all that we could to score but failed in normal time. This is football.” Lule cried.
The draw for the semi-final will be held soon.
