Buganda Minister of Sports Owek Salongo Robert Serwanga with Hajji Sulaiman Magala

The Minister of Sports and Arts in Buganda, Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga announced Engabi Ennyunga and Akasimba clan to play the opening game of the Bika Bya Baganda football tournament eyekitiibwa.
The tournament comes as Buganda continues to celebrate the Kabaka’s 70 years old ejekitiibwa after Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi making 70 this Month.
At the meeting held at Bulange the Buganda Parliamentary house in Mengo on 17th April 2025, Minister Sserwanga stated
“As we are still cerebrating for Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s 70 years ejekitiibwa, this years tournament is special (Yakitiibwa) the registration is open now up to 23rd April,
The opening game shall take place on 3rd May between Engabi Ennyunga and Akasimba in football though Netball will be in action between 25th and 27th April at Namboole.
The netball final shall be on the same day with the opening of football tournament and both events at the same venue Wankulukuku”
After receiving the communication from the Minister, Ngabi Nnyunga Second deputy Prime minister Steven Muyunga took the platform to call upon the entire Buganda to consider the opening game as a major key for the tournament.
“We are delighted with announcement from the Minister, Ngabi Nnyunga we are to open the tournament eyekitiibwa against Akasimba, it is not only a game for us the clans in action on the day, it is a game to reflect the value of the tournament, therefore the entire Buganda has a role to play on that day”
Different Clan Leaders
The meeting came at a time when different Clan teams are already in preparations with Engabi Ennyunga taking on their preparations at Buganda Road play ground while Akasimba clan they are also going on with the preparations.
On the same meeting, Minister Sserwanga announced that the tournament to will climax on 7th June 2025 at Mutesa two Stadium Wankuluku.
