After a long time of failed trails with the closest came on two occasions in 2019 and 2022 when St Lawrence lost in final to UCU Mukono and Uganda Marty’s.
Despite, St Lawrence have kept focus on capturing the first Pepsi University Football League trophy year in year out.
St Lawrence University faces Uganda Marty’s University Nkozi in the final at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium on Sunday 27th April 2025.
In 2022 St Lawrence lost in the hands of Sunny Kaija who netted the lone goal that won the final for Uganda Martyr’s University, Nkozi.
With two days ahead of the final day, the organisers arranged a pre-match press conference on 24th April at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo, on the platform created both camps stood confident upon winning the final with St Lawrence University head Coach Davis Nono Ssozi sounding much vibrant as he state.
“This is the best squad I have had, Unlike previous editions where we reached the final unbeaten, this time we are tested with setbacks, but we have been bouncing back. That tells me that we are ready and this time luck my be on our side.” Nono revealed.
On road to final St Lawrence faced two loses but on both occasions they have been able to settle in a refined momentum.
For Uganda Marty’s University Nkozzi assistant coach Henry Bishop Orom stated; “We have lost players, yes, but we stayed the course. I believe Sunday ends with us lifting the trophy again.” I promise to display good and quality football so fans just come and witness”
The final kicks off at 3 PM, right after the third-place playoff between IUIU and Bugema University, setting up a full afternoon of top-tier university football.
